Eagan becomes part of fiber network |

Eagan will become part of a high-speed internet community.

Velocity Telephone, Inc., a Golden Valley-based company, will become the nation's first fiber network provider using new Metro Ring technology when it breaks ground on the Eagan Community Fiber Network.

The Network will provide Eagan homes and businesses with access to high-speed internet of up to 1,000 Megabits per second, 10 times faster than anything available on the market according to the company.

Residents and businesses will also have the option of getting telephone and access through Velocity as well.

Local dignitaries and business leaders will break ground April 19th. 

Once signed up, the northwest quadrant of Eagan will be the first to access the new network in June.
